Dr. Joesph Carr

Sports Psychologist, PH.D.

Over the span of his 40+ years’ experience in clinical, sports, and community psychology, Dr. Carr has perfected his unique brand and methodology of assessing and instilling team chemistry and culture in a multitude of settings. One of Dr. Carr’s most lasting legacies is his 1984 collaboration with 1978 NBA Finals MVP, the late Bob Dandridge, in developing the NBA Rookie Transition Program. The rookie transition program was designed to educate and empower incoming draftees to the pitfalls and opportunities that come with celebrity status. The resulting dynamic was a culture change within the NBA that placed player development programs as a top priority in the collective bargaining process. The subsequent refurbishing of the image of the NBA and its players paved the way for the organization to experience a quantum leap in revenue generation, fan appeal and positive global brand recognition. The NBA Rookie Transition Program has since been emulated and duplicated by the NFL, NHL, and MLB

Dr Carr is recognized within the sports industry for his preeminent expertise in building championship level culture and team chemistry. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Victor Oladipo, Allen Iverson, Dikembe Mutombo, Darren Collison, Mike Conley, and Ricky Rubio are examples of some of the most prolific winners and leaders in the NBA who have benefitted from Dr. Carr’s guidance and tutoring in culture devotion, chemistry management, leadership influence, and level 5 championship effort.
